Appointed Person
According to the law, every business, whatever its size, must have at least one Appointed Person available at all times (unless they cannot be at work due to unforeseen circumstances). The HSE recommends that they should undergo basic first aid training. All our courses are suitable for this purpose, although the 1-day Emergency First Aid at Work course is usually the most appropriate. This is a new course, which can only be offered by HSE approved training organisations and is designed for small to medium sized businesses, or those with a slightly lower element of risk.

The course content is dictated by the HSE and includes:
- the role of the first aider
- handling an emergency safely
- basic life support including cardiopulmonary resuscitation
- dealing with wounds or bleeding
- dealing with seizures and choking
- provision of appropriate first aid for minor injuries
- Introductory training with the automated defibrillator (AED)
